Does the Hospice provide long term care or respite care?
|
The Hospice is registered with the Health Care Commission as a small hospital and not as a nursing home. We are therefore not registered as such to provide long term care for people. The average length of an in-patient stay is 12 days, however, a small minority of patients by the nature of their symptoms or particular problem may have a longer period of admission. Unfortunately, the Hospice does not have the availability of beds to offer planned periods of respite care. In some circumstances crisis respite care may be available.
