Her Majesty, The Queen, announced on 30th April 2002 the creation of a new, annual Award to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee. The Award recognises the vital role played by the hundreds of thousands of 'unsung heroes' of the voluntary and community world and details of winners are announced annually on 2nd June (the anniversary of The Queen's Coronation) each year.
On 2nd June 2005, Wakefield Hospice was delighted and privileged to be included in the list of organisations to received "The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service". What an honour this is.
The award particularly recognises the efforts and commitment of volunteers working within the organisation, whatever their role, be it in the hospice, as a fundraiser, in the shops and warehouse or in the Support Groups. Every volunteer is equally important and Wakefield Hospice is grateful to them all for their hard work.
If you give your time to help Wakefield Hospice in any way, then this message is for you from the Trustees and the Hospice Management Team:
"Thank you most sincerely for your generosity and for caring - we could not manage without you."
