Volunteer Testimonial (Dominic Bristow)

Dominic is a Volunteer at the Hospice Warehosue

"I first considered volunteering whilst I was out of work. My wife suggested that volunteering might be a good way to meet new people and keep a routine whilst I was looking for a job. I do a couple of days a week and I've been there for a couple of months now.

I work at the Hospice Warehouse with a van driver. We deliver the clothes, books, bric-a-brac and other items to the shops and collect the donations that the public have brought in and take those back to the warehouse to be sorted. We also collect furniture donations from members of the public and deliver sold furniture to addresses throughout the Wakefield area. It's quite demanding physically but we work as a team and that helps to get the job done.

I was made to feel very welcome from the first day; the van drivers are brilliant to get on with and showed me everything I needed to know. The other volunteers and staff are all really friendly. I really feel part of the team at the warehouse and enjoy my time there greatly. It's good to know that my time there helps to raise money for the patients of the Hospice."
