Volunteer Testimonial (Margaret Ainsworth)

"I had just retired after many years as a School Assistant and my husband was a sick man suffering with early stages of dementia when I heard that the Hospice shop was in need of voluntary workers. I decided to apply and soon discovered I was very suited to the work and I enjoyed meeting new people. It gave me an aim in life and I knew I was helping to raise much needed funds for Wakefield Hospice and it helped me to get over a very difficult situation.

I have mad many friends over the years. I have worked in the shop, with both colleagues and our many regular customers.

My husband died three years after I started at the Hospice shop but I am still there and this will be my 20th year."
