The Benefits of Volunteering

  1. The opportunity to meet lots of new people, make new friends and have fun! Volunteers can come together at a variety of social events including awards presentations for long service and our annual 'Thank You' party.
  2. Be a valued member of a team.
  3. Learn new skills: volunteers can access training in areas such as Health & Safety, Communication Skills and Customer Care.
  4. Develop talents that employers, colleges and universities value, for example; communication skills, team work and taking responsibility.

You can make a real difference and help Wakefield Hospice, whilst having fun at the same time.

We have over 350 volunteers at the hospice without whom we would not be able to open our doors - yet it is still not enough. Volunteers save us quite literally thousands of pounds each year:

FACT: In 2005, at the hospice alone (not including retail outlets), volunteers contributed 15,309 hours of work saving the hospice £78,078.45 (based on the minimum wage).
