IMPROVING OUR IN-PATIENT WARD
A grant from the Department of Health funded a refurbishment and groundwork project which has enabled us to upgrade the hospices eight original single en suite bedrooms and one communal bathroom.
The scheme has provided patients with a sense of bringing "the outside in", enabling bedfast and ambulant patients to go outdoors onto individual weather protected patio areas.
The patio areas look on to landscaped terraced gardens surrounded by wheelchair pathways.

Whilst some bedrooms already had piped oxygen, this provision has been extended to remaining six bedrooms. Each room refurbishment incorporated improved overhead and bedside lighting, additional electrical sockets, pressure relieving mattresses, falls prevention sensor pads and recliner chairs as well as new seating for families. The communal treatment bathroom has been completely refurbished, including the installation of a new hydraulic jacuzzi bath.
The project has been paid for in its entirety by the government grant.
