Care At Wakefield Hospice
We offer a range of services for patients and their relatives
Wakefield Hospice is a specialist unit offering holistic care for people who have advanced, progressive illnesses which may or may not be cancer (see FAQs). The Hospices main priority of care is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients, whilst supporting their families during the period of illness and throughout the period of bereavement.
Wakefield Hospice is a purpose built specialist palliative care unit (see FAQs)delivering in patient pain and symptom management, emotional support, crisis respite care and terminal care at the end of life.
A lively Day Therapy Unit offers a drop in services. These may be informal drop in type services which support patients who have a life limiting illness and their carers. Or more structured rehabilitation and support services for people who have Chronic Obstructive Airways Disorder (COPD) and a Moving Forward service for those people who are surviving beyond their cancer diagnosis.
A varied range of bereavement services to meet individual needs can be offered for families and friends of Hospice patients.
