From understanding how to get involved with volunteering through to how much time you need to commit, read on to find out more about some of our most frequently asked questions about volunteering.

FAQS:

Do I need a particular skill set to volunteer at Wakefield Hospice?
It's dependent upon what role you wish to undertake. For many of our roles, having a can-do-attitude and a willingness to learn is often the key starting point, however for other roles there may be a requirement for a basic level of knowledge around the vacancy for applicants.
Each role description will highlight the vacancy in greater detail to give you a better idea of requirements, but as stated, a positive attitude is certainly a must for all roles.

Is there a minimum amount of time I need to give to volunteer?
Absolutely not! Some of our volunteers (such as office support or shop volunteers) love knowing they will be completing their roles on the same day. same time, every week; whilst other volunteers (such as event volunteers) may dip in and out on an ad-hoc 'when needed' basis.

My employer allows all employees time to volunteer each year, can we use this time to volunteer at Wakefield Hospice?
Absolutely! From volunteering in the hospice gardens to helping out at our Donation Wareouse, team work really does make the dream work when it comes to corporate volunteering! For more information visit our Corporate Volunteering page.

Do you offer expenses?
