Spiritual Care

We offer Spiritual Care to patients, their relatives and carers and the wider hospice staff.

The largest part of our work at the hospice is involved in offering Spiritual Care and support to patients, their relatives and carers and also to the wider hospice staff.

When patients arrive at the hospice for the first time, they are often anxious and frightened about what it means to be admitted to the hospice, not realising that a very large proportion of patients are discharged after 10 to 14 days on average. It is part of the Chaplains’ role to try to put patients at their ease as far as is possible, and to offer them spiritual and confidential support.

The Chaplains support the ward staff in promoting respect and dignity to those who have religious beliefs and practice their faith, to those who do not practice their faith, as well as to those who have no religious faith. Our aim is to offer comfort and support, a listening ear and guidance when we can.
