Staff at Morrisons Distribution Cenre, Wakefield J41 have been raising money for Wakefield Hospice as part of a nine month UK-wide campaign by Morrisons to raise £1 million for hospice care.
Through Morrisons charity of the year partnership with Help the Hospices, every Morrisons store and distribution site has been teamed up with its nearest hospice to raise money that will directly fund hospice services in the local community.
Staff at Wakefield's distribution site raised £1,800 recently when colleagues dressed up for Halloween. The site now plans to hold events monthly throughout the campaign, including a talent contest, football tournament and a photo competiton.
Site controller, Scott Roberts said "It was great to see everyone having some fun whilst raising money for such a good cause, I was blow away by everyone's generosity".
All the money raised by Morrisons sites and stores in Wakefield will go directly to Wakefield Hospice.
Hospice Fundraiser, Keeley Harrison said "we are delighted to be working with Morrisons, especially as well celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wakefield Hospice this year. We feel priveledged that Morrisons have chosen to support hospice care and thank all the staff for their support and generosity".
