This year Wakefield Hospice celebrates 20 years of service in our local community, however this would not be possible without the loyalty, sheer hard work and dedication of the fundraising groups of Wakefield Hospice.
10 years before the Wakefield Hospice building ever existed, St Johns, Wrenthorpe, St Austins, Calder Grove and Durkar, Outwood, Horbury, Crofton, Oulton and Woodlesford, Bretton, Ossett, Sandal, Lupset and Thornes, Ryhill, Rothwell, Morley, Lofthouse, Rothwell, Stanley, Walton, the Hospice Group and the Four Villages – Netherton, Middlestown, Midgley and Overton all setup Fundraising Groups in their area to raise vital funds that would eventually create the Hospice that you know today.
Some of these Groups continue to fundraise in some of these areas by hosting events, bucket collections in local supermarkets, summer and winter fairs and fashion shows to name just a few.
Over the years, collectively the Groups of Wakefield Hospice have raised approximately £3,814,607.00 which is an amazing contribution.
And now its your turn… Wakefield Hospice needs you!
The Groups are looking for members who can perhaps offer a little bit of their time in their local area, to raise the profile of the groups and also contribute to their fundraising activities over the year.
If you think that you can help in anyway, take a look at the Group nearest you and see what fundraising activities are happening close by.
