Sean and Ellie Go To Great Heights For Wakefield Hospice

Sean and Ellie on Ben NevisCostcutter Category development executive Sean Metcalfe and his girlfriend Ellie Muir (Wakefield PCT's Commissioning Admin Officer) reached magnificent heights with their first attempt at charity fund-raising.

Walking the Ben Nevis ChallengeThe pair climbed the famous Ben Nevis mountain on July 23rd, and have just about recovered. “It’s always been something I personally wanted to do, and a friend of ours suggested we do it for a charity,” says Sean. “We chose Wakefield Hospice as our charity because Ellie works in the NHS in Wakefield and hears reports from the PCT and relatives of what a wonderful and caring place it is. Having done a little research we soon found it to be quite a touching story as the care home was set up by eight friends who raised all the money and ran the hospice themselves for the community.”

Ellie says that at a time when grants and donations from the government are being squeezed it is more important than ever that people get involved in supporting their local community.

“We will definitely be doing more charity work in the future and we are looking for a challenge that is bigger and better than the last, so who knows what it will be?” continued Ellie. “It is the single hardest thing we have ever done and we are really proud of what we have achieved.”
