What a fantastic start to 2011 for 10 lucky supporters of Wakefield Hospice will have. In celebration of the hospice’s 20th anniversary and in honour of this distinctive milestone, we upped the ante on our usual Summer Draw and went bigger and better than ever before with our 2010 Grand Prize Draw!!
The quality of prizes on offer this year were of a higher value than normal, with the top prize being an Mediterranean cruise and other prizes including an all inclusive Algarve holiday, family holiday to Spain, a trip on the Orient Express, city breaks, spa breaks and much more!
With generous sponsorship received from PoshBingo.com and Harratts this year, the hospice will benefit all the more from the sale of tickets which has raised just over £20,500 profit in aid of the hospice and in relative terms could pay for an in-patient bed for 48 nights!
Keeping the hospice as the focus during its 20th anniversary year, the draw took place on New Year’s Eve within the building itself. With such a large quantity of tickets sold, a large container was required to hold the tickets from which the winning stubs were drawn and what better way to ‘plug’ the fundraiser than by using one of the hospice’s baths!
Event organiser, Emily Murphy says: “Thank you to everyone who supported this event, whether you bought or sold tickets you have made a big difference and helped to raise a fantastic amount in aid of our hospice and iced the metaphorical birthday cake!”
The winning numbers were plucked from the bath from the hospice’s Director of Patient Services, Karen Crawshaw who was blind folded to ensure a fair draw. The winning tickets are as follows:
