Sam receiving a cheque from Silcoates SchoolSilcoates School

"In Year 9's Chapel assembly this morning, we were pleased to welcome once more Samantha Wood of Wakefield Hospice. Erin, Sam and Harry presented cheques to Samantha totalling £520. This was raised with a lunchtime musical 'busk' last term, and a sponsored swim or run that all Year 9 pupils took part in. We are happy to support this local charity and were interested to hear from Samantha how far this money will go towards nursing costs.

We'll have to come with some new fundraising ideas for next year!" - Carol Marsh, Head of Year 9.

'Tour de Ireland'

A Team of 8 cyclists will be trekking from the tip of Northern Ireland and ending up at the very Southern point of the Republic of Ireland. They have dubbed the trip 'Tour de Ireland'. The cycle ride will total 470 miles and will take place in May 2011 and last for over 6 days.

Christian Lawler, one of the cyclists on the trip said "The cycle will be very challenging but enjoyable at the same time. Certain roads will not be road cycling friendly but this will all add to the fun. I look forward to raising as much money as possible and also our first pint of Guinness in Mizen Head!"
