The Volunteer Services Department at Wakefield Hospice is continually looking at innovative recruitment methods and improvements in training and retaining volunteers.
FACT: In 2008, volunteers contributed 22,886 hours of work, which based on the minimum wage is valued at £131,139.65.
Volunteers work alongside our staff members in most areas of the hospice, in our warehouse and shops, in our Fundraising Groups, the Magistrates Tea Bar and give invaluable support year after year.
Volunteers come from all walks of life (minimum age restrictions apply to some areas) and bring their own skills and experiences. Their commitment varies but is usually on a regular basis, at a mutually convenient time.
Our team of over 300 volunteers are vital in helping us to provide our service.
