Annual hospice golf day raises vital funds
Wakefield Hospice held its annual charity golf day, raising a staggering £17,100.

Seventeen teams comprising 4 players took to the course at Wakefield Golf Club, in support of the hospice, which like many charities has been hit hard by the pandemic.

The event, now in its 30th year, is the longest running fundraising event for Wakefield Hospice and was sponsored by Ashleigh Signs, IJS Development Projects and Simpson Packaging. The Club Captain Elizabeth Newton is also supporting Wakefield Hospice this year as her chosen charity.

The winning team was CBT Ltd, with second place going to PDS Design & Build and 3rd place to Ashleigh Signs. All of whom are local Wakefield businesses.

Helen Knowles, Director of Income Generation at the hospice said: “I always look forward to our annual charity golf day and this year was extra special as it celebrated its 30th anniversary. It has been running for as long as the hospice has.

Helen continued: “I’d like to thank everyone that took part and supported the event, especially our sponsors and Wakefield Golf Club who have hosted it since it started. We are really overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone involved who once again ensured a great day was had by all and the vital funds raised will help us to continue to provide the quality of care in our community now and for future generations.”
