With the Wakefield Hospice 10K just FIVE WEEKS AWAY, we’ve listed below FIVE TOP TIPS for how you can maximise your sponsorship for the event and help to make our biggest event of the year the very best it can be! Plus, did you know, every person who raises over £100 in sponsorship gets entered into a free prize draw to win a £100 Gift Voucher!

1. Just Giving
Once you’ve registered for the 10K, get yourself a Just Giving page set up to raise funds easily online. Your Just Giving page will track the total raised and is easy to share whether via social media, email or WhatsApp.

2. Paper Sponsorship Forms
As well as having an online giving method, some people will still prefer paper sponsorship forms and to give you cash – so be sure to grab a paper sponsorship form too. If you work in an office, attend a weekly quiz or meet up with friends and family in person a lot, be sure to take your form with you and see if people will be happy to contribute. (For tips on paying in your sponsorship money contact us by clicking here).

3. Set a realistic goal
You don’t need to raise £1000 to make a big difference to Wakefield Hospice (but if you do raise £1000 wow well done you!) For example, if each of the participants in last year’s race raised £20 in sponsorship it would generate an additional £27,000 for local hospice care!

Set a realistic goal, be it £20, £50, £100… and it will increase your motivation to hit your target. A reminder that all who raise over £100 are entered into a free prize draw to win a £100 Gift Voucher on the day!

4. Don’t be shy
By taking part in the Wakefield Hospice 10K you are doing two amazing things – completing a 10K(!) and raising vital funds for local hospice care here in Wakefield. It is something to be proud of and there is nothing wrong with telling people about your plans – indeed the likelihood is your friends, colleagues and family will want to know what you are doing!

5. Match-funding
Do you work for a company who have a match-funding scheme in place? Many organisations now offer match-funding for their employees fundraising efforts, meaning if you raised £50 in sponsorship, your employer would match this and give another £50 on top! Speak with your manager or finance team to see if it is something they do.

Whatever your fundraising target, by raising sponsorship at the Wakefield Hospice 10K, you are helping to raise even more vital funds to help care for local patients and their families across the Wakefield district. As a charity we rely on fundraising for 75% of our annual income, whatever you are able to raise, you’re contribution makes a big difference.

From all at Wakefield Hospice, the very best of luck with your Wakefield 10K challenge.
