We are no longer taking dedications for Lights on the Lake ahead of the event. Subject to demand, candles may still be available to dedicate on the evening. Thank you to everyone who has dedicated a candle to help create the special display of lights in memory of loved ones. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday evening.

“Don’t worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine the brightest.” Anonymous
We invite everyone to remember a loved one by dedicating a candle to create a special display of lights on the lake at Pugneys on Saturday 8 June. The candles will be floated on rafts as the sun sets to represent those being remembered and the light that families say the hospice provides during a dark time in their lives.
Homemade cakes will be available from the hospice refreshment stall with all donations helping to fund patient care. Pugneys cafĂ© will also be open until 10pm serving snacks and drinks.
The evening will end with a short firework display at around 10.30pm.

Please dedicate your candle before the event as we can’t guarantee that candles will be available on the day. If you’d like to add your dedication yourself, please arrive by 9.30pm to collect your candle. If you’re attending but we’re adding your dedication for you, please arrive by 10.15pm to watch the firework display. You can also dedicate a candle without attending the event.
There is no minimum donation but please give what you can to raise funds for patient care. In return for your dedication you’ll receive a keepsake postcard showing the name of your loved one.
You can dedicate a candle by calling us on 01924 331401.

'Wakefield Hospice means a lot to me for the care that was given to my father, Trevor Hall. When his cancer returned and the time came for him to receive professional and constant care, a bed was available at Wakefield Hospice. It was a peaceful place where Dad could sleep and be calm without fear, pain or stress. All his needs were taken care of in a compassionate and dignified manner.' Fiona Hughes

Parking is available at Pugneys at their usual rates. You can order a parking voucher for Pugneys (suggested donation £1) when you dedicate your candle. Normal parking charges will apply if you don’t have a parking voucher. Alternatively, free parking is available at ASDA, St Peter & St Paul’s church (after 6.30pm) and Kettlethorpe school 3G sports pitch with their kind permission. Parking space may be limited so please share cars where possible.
Please note that the candles are battery-powered to withstand a light breeze or shower, but the event may be postponed if poor weather is forecast.
Watch this short film to hear how your donation will help care for people with serious illnesses.
