"The Yorkshire 3-Peaks was a huge and difficult challenge for me, something I never thought I could achieve. After descending Whernside I didn't know if I could go on as I was exhausted, the generosity of our sponsors and the thought of raising money for this great local cause gave me the determination to complete the challenge"
Emma Hodgson, Linley & Simpson team member, Y3P 2016

Take on the challenge to conquer the famous Yorkshire 3 Peaks for Wakefield Hospice. Join the team as we walk and climb the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales and attempt to complete the challenge in under 12 hours.

Wakefield Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support to patients and their families facing one of the biggest challenges in their lives. Now we challenge you…

The three peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough form the classic adventure walk of approximatly 24miles in length with 5,000 feet / 1,525 metres of ascent to the peaks. The route is a circular walk which begins and ends at Horton-in-Ribblesdale. The first peak is Pen-Y-Ghent three miles away which is at an altitude of 694 metres. From the summit it is a steady seven mile hike to Ribbleshead, then the next challenge a further four miles to the summit of Whernside; the highest mountain of the three at an altitude of 736 metres. From Whernside it is then a three mile descent to Chapel-Le-Dale, then the final three miles of ascent to the summit of Ingleborough at 723 metres.  It is then a four mile descent back to Horton in Ribblesdale to complete the route.
