Wildcats Charity Rugby Match

The Wildcats are helping to raise funds for a local charity by wearing a one-off kit for the visit of Leeds Rhinos at the end of July.
Instead of running out in their traditional red, white and blue for the visit of the Champions, Trinity’s home kit will bear the green and yellow colours of Wakefield Hospice for a match that has been dedicated to raising funds for the charity.
The game on Monday 30th July is also live on Sky Sports meaning fantastic exposure for the Hospice.
Each match ticket will have an additional £1 on the usual admission price, with that pound going direct to the Hospice in one of a number of ways in which supporters will be able to contribute.
Along with the fundraising efforts on the night, the one-off shirts worn by the players will be auctioned at a later date with part of the money raised also going to the charity whilst fans will also have the opportunity to buy replicas of the shirt in the Wildcats retail outlets. Shirts are priced at £39.99 for adults and £34.99 for juniors with pre-orders being taken up to June 22nd with shirts delivered in time for the visit of the Rhinos.
Wildcats General Manager Davide Longo hopes the initiative can raise up to £10,000 for the Hospice. “The club has worked with Wakefield Hospice on a number of fundraising events in the past but nothing on this scale,” he commented. “As well as money that will be raised, picking a match that will feature on Sky Sports will provide fantastic exposure for the Hospice and the great work they do. We’re certain that the Wildcats supporters will recognise this and get behind the night and turn up in their numbers not only to cheer on their team, but to also raise money for a hugely worthwhile local cause.”
Wakefield Hospice is committed to providing the highest level of symptom management and care for people who have advanced active, progressive and life threatening illnesses. The Hospice needs to raise £3.2million each year to be able to continue to provide care and support to patients and their families. As care is provided free of charge to patients, the Hospice must raise £8767 per day.
Director of Fundraising, Helen Knowles said, “We are thrilled that The Wildcats have chosen to dedicate the match against the Leeds Rhinos to Wakefield Hospice. We receive such generous and loyal support from our local community and feel privileged that The Wildcats will be raising funds for us from this high profile match. The fundraising efforts of the club will certainly benefit patients at the Hospice and help raise awareness of the work the hospice does to care for and support local people with life threatening illnesses."
