Wow, what a year it has been!

Every single person in the UK has been affected in some way and Covid19 has turned the world upside down.

Here at the hospice, it has had an impact too: no hand holding, more aprons and gloves and wearing makes. These things make it hard to deliver the personal touches but we have managed to overcome the obstacles and still provided the small things that make a difference to our patients.

One morning, a patient wasn’t tempted by anything on the menu, instead she fancied tinned salmon. The nursing and catering teams went the extra mile and bought some that day. Another patient wanted a vindaloo curry so the ingredients were sourced and brought to the Hospice. Even when another patient requested a pain relieving jacuzzi bath, we are able to provide it for her.

They may seem like insignificant things but these small acts of kindness make a huge difference to the people in our care. I’m so proud to be part of the team that works together and puts the welfare of others first, even in challenging circumstances.
