Fundraising For Us
Fundraising is a fantastic way to support Wakefield Hospice while having fun or challenging yourself.

We are very grateful for the support from our local community - from companies, groups and individuals who take time to raise funds for patient care at Wakefield Hospice. Whether you wish to organise your own event, take on a personal challenge or fundraise at work, our fundraising team is on hand to offer guidance and support.

There are many ways to raise vital funds......

  • Show off your baking skills and organise a bake sale or a coffee morning
  • Set yourself a personal challenge and run/jog/walk/climb/cycle that extra mile
  • Organise a music event
  • Get crafting and sell your handmade goods
  • Organise raffles, tombolas, quizzes

We'd love to hear from you

Whatever you are planning, our friendly fundraising team loves to hear about your plans, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We can also help you promote your event via our poster creator.

If you’re fundraising in memory of a loved one, please tell us their name so we can acknowledge this.

If your event is one of several ways you’re raising money, or a number of people are raising money, you may also wish to set up a Tribute Fund to record and share how much has been raised overall.

Wakefield Hospice Fundraising Groups

The Wakefield Hospice Fundraising Groups were the cornerstone of volunteer fundraising to help build Wakefield Hospice over 30 years ago. During this time, the volunteer groups of Wakefield Hospice have collectively raised over £3,000,000 which is an amazing contribution.

Originally there were 21 Wakefield Hospice Fundraising Groups which helped to raise funds for the capital appeal to build the hospice. Some of these Groups continue to fundraise by hosting events; bucket collections in local supermarkets; summer and winter fairs and fashion shows to name just a few. The social element of their activities plays a large part in their success. The groups also provide an invaluable service by raising awareness of the hospice in the community.

We currently have groups covering Calder Grove and Durkar, Morley and East Ardsley, Ossett, Sandal, Wrenthorpe St. Johns and Outwood.

Wakefield Hospice needs you!

Our Groups are always looking for new members who can offer some of their time to raise the profile of the group in their local area and contribute to the group’s fundraising activities over the year. If there is not a group near you we would be more than happy to discuss supporting you to open a new group.

Setting up a volunteer fundraising group
Most of the groups grow from friends, neighbours or work colleagues who share a common appreciation for the work of Wakefield Hospice. All you need to do is contact Wakefield Hospice and we will help you make it official.
Then: Organise your inaugural event. Make it simple or creative, big or small, it could become an annual thing as you decide what else to add to the calendar.
Expectations: There are no targets, but clearly every penny counts. We provide as much support as is necessary to help the efforts of the group flourish. And flourish they always do.
Support: Our volunteer fundraising groups can access tools and materials to enhance and support their efforts. The expertise of the Wakefield Hospice fundraising team is only ever a phone call or email away.

Fundraise at School

Whether you are a teacher, student, parent/guardian, there are lots of ways that your school can raise funds for Wakefield Hospice. From non-uniform days to fancy dress days; bake sales to summer fairs or simply choosing Wakefield Hospice as the charity that you want to support through the year, we are here to help you.
Fundraising in school not only benefits the charity but also the students, helping them to learn vital life skills; build relationships with others; understand the importance of team work and gain awareness of social responsibility for their local communities from an early age. Our Community Fundraiser can talk to students about what hospice care means, explain the work that we do and encourage pupils to take part in fun events.
If you would like to raise money for Wakefield Hospice at your school; would like to know more about the work that we do or have an idea that you would like to discuss, please contact Alison Wainwright, Community Fundraiser on 01924 331401 or email Alison

Collection Boxes

Wakefield Hospice’s charity collection boxes are displayed in businesses like shops, restaurants, pubs and social clubs, across our community and provide a vital source of income.

If your business could support us by having a collection box in your workplace, please get in touch and we will drop one off at your premises. When it is nearly full all you need to do is give us a call and we will arrange a collection and drop off service to make it as easy as possible.

From post offices to supermarkets, newsagents to hairdressers and many more, if you own or know of a business that would be able to take a box for us, please let us know!

For more information please call Alison Wainwright on 01924 331401. Alternatively email Alison

Home Money Boxes

Our home money boxes are a useful place to store your loose change and raise money for Wakefield Hospice. You can pick one up from the hospice Reception or any of our shops and when yours is full, you can drop it off at any of those locations. The boxes are kindly sponsored by BGL so every penny goes to patient care. If you would like us to send a box to you, please call Alison Wainwright on 01924 331401. Alternatively email Alison
