Leaving a Gift in Your Will

It won't cost you a penny now, but will make a big difference in the future.

Caring for future generations

Gifts in Wills have always been an important souce of income for Wakefield Hospice. Many people choose to leave a gift to their favourite charity – it’s easy to arrange and anyone can do it. Every year the hospice receives gifts of different sizes through Wills, and each one is a vital contribution towards the hospice's running costs. You can help care for generations to come by remembering the hospice in your Will.

Write or update your Will during 'Make a Will Week'

The hospice is a registered charity and receives more than three quarters of its funding from voluntary sources. Every gift, large or small, helps. By leaving a small percentage of what’s left after you’ve taken care of friends and family, you can help make sure that local people – perhaps your relatives, friends or neighbours – can be cared for as you would wish.

Your gift will help families facing serious illnesses in the future to receive the best possible care. To read about the difference a gift can make, please click on the stories below. Mick, Rachael and Shani all have first-hand experience of hospice care. Jean volunteers at the hospice; George is our music therapist; and Sue is one of our nurses. Gifts in Wills help to fund all these areas of work.

Your gift will be used wherever the need is greatest to make life better for families affected by life-limiting illnesses. Below are some practical examples of the type of support a gift in your Will could provide.

£25 - An hour of nursing care
£35 - A bereavement support session
£500 - Fund the entire hospice for one hour
£1,076 - A syringe driver to deliver pain relief
£1,200 - Medical supplies for one month

If your gift will be in memory of a loved one, you may wish to ask your solicitor to make a note of this in your Will. You’re also welcome to tell us now. If we know the name of the person you are honouring, we will enter it in our Book of Remembrance which is displayed at the hospice.
