HSBC Local Project Funding Scheme

We are so excited to be able to announce that Wakefield Hospice has been chosen by the HSBC Local Project Funding Scheme to receive a grant of £39,365.

The grant will be used to improve our garden space for better access and greater use. Work has already started and is anticipated to be completed by summer 2018.

The new garden space will provide a therapeutic area for patients and loved ones to socialise and take time out to relax in a calm environment.  This will lengthen visiting times, improving the quality of life for our patients and create lasting memories for their loved ones for many years to come.
Beyond illness, we care for the loved ones as they battle with the range of emotions that bereavement brings.  Family members can access our services for as long as they need, totally free of charge.  By improving our gardens, and access to them, we will add another dimension to our care package.  Sometimes, a walk in the gardens, some quiet time to sit and reflect is the best therapy.
Aside from offering long term therapeutic benefits to our patients’ staff and visitors, the remodelled garden will unlock the potential for Wakefield Hospice to raise additional funds. The current space will be levelled off to create a new, more even lawn space that will offer a platform to income generate for our charity through our own and community events.

We are so grateful to HSBC for making our vision a reality and for unlocking the opportunities for our hospice and local community which will make a difference for many years to come.
