Lights on the Lake

Thank you to everyone who remembered loved ones by sponsoring candles on Saturday 9 June 2018 to help make a special display of lights on the lake at Pugneys Country Park. As the sun set, we floated hundreds of candles on the water to represent the light that families say our care team provides during a dark time in their lives. The evening finished with a short firework display.
Families often tell us that Wakefield Hospice is the light that has guided them through a dark time in their lives and our display symbolised the light in the darkness.  Everyone sponsoring a candle has helped to provide free, high quality care to seriously ill people and their loved ones.

‘When I was diagnosed with cancer, my world went totally upside down. The hospice has made life much easier. It’s a place where I’ve found the most amazing kindness. Not only for the patients, but for the family as well. I drop in when I need extra support. I know I can rely on the hospice at those times.’
Pat Herbert, Day Therapy Unit patient

Our grateful thanks go to Minster Law for sponsoring this event and making this film for us, and to Zoe Illingworth of ZI Photography for supplying the photographs of Pugneys.
