I get a great sense of pride knowing I am helping and giving my time for such a wonderful cause.

Resolve to be involved

Have you visited our new WH Retail shop on George Street, Wakefield?

Stocking everything for the home from an egg cup to a sofa, our furniture and homewares will be great value, great quality and beautifully presented. Upstairs you will find a specialist book and record shop, complete with reading corner!

We would love your help in this new store. If you can help customers to furnish their homes with lovely pieces from our collection, we would like to hear from you. We have shifts available Monday to Sunday. Please get in touch by calling in our warehouse, any of our shops or calling 01924 331400. You can also download a volunteer application form from this page. Help a patient and a family in need of specialist care. Volunteer.

Wakefield Hospice patients and families need YOUR SUPPORT so please think about joining the volunteer team. It’s a great way to share the care of people who are important to us. Please think about the way you spend your spare time and make a change by volunteering.

In a busy world, everyone’s time is precious, especially for those families receiving Hospice care. By sharing just a little of yours, you can help us to deliver the best care we can. Volunteers come from all walks of life and bring their own skills and experiences. Their commitment varies but is usually on a regular basis, at a mutually convenient time (minimum age is 16, 18 in areas of patient care). Volunteers work alongside our staff members in most areas of the Hospice, in our warehouse and shops and in our local fundraising groups. They also help at Fundraising events which are held throughout the year.

We are particularly looking for help at our warehouse (Tadman Street, Thornes). This is where the care actually begins – we have to accept, sort and distribute our donations for sale so that we can raise the crucial funds for patient care. We need people who are physically fit to support our van drivers, and people who love giving great customer service to those buying larger items. If you fit either bill, please get in touch.
