Volunteer Opportunities

It feels good  doing something important and worthwhile, in fact it's brilliant

Sharing the Care

All we ask is for a few hours of your time, ideally on a regular basis. There are voluntary roles in most areas of the hospice and in its retail outlets

Current Vacancies

Reception and Patient support
To provide a warm welcome, reassurance and a helping hand to our patients and visitors. Shifts available every day of the week including evenings.

To drive a small van making local collections and deliveries associated with the daily running of the Hospice. Must have a clean driving licence and be able to interact appropriately with a range of people. May also assist with basic DIY/maintenance tasks around the Hospice building and grounds.

Housekeeping and laundry. We have very high standards of cleanliness and comfort for our patients and families. If you could help us with dusting, vacuuming and ironing we would like to hear from you. Shifts available every day of the week.

Retail Assistants in the centre of Wakefield, Thornes, Ossett and Horbury. Full training provided.
Our high street shops are bright and attractive, showing off our donated goods in colourful displays. If you could help us to raise funds by giving great customer service we want to hear from you.

Ebay support
Supporting our E-Commerce staff in preparing goods for sale. Based at WH Retail, George Street shop in Wakefield.

Drivers’ mates. Our van drivers need assistance loading and unloading their vehicles and with collections and deliveries. Loads may be awkward and heavy so you need to be physically fit and strong.

Donation receivers and sorters. In order to keep our shops well stocked with quality items, we need to meet and greet our generous donors, thank them for their gifts and pass them on to be sorted and priced. These are vital roles and we need lots of willing hands to help.

Gardeners and grounds maintenance. Caring for our landscaped grounds throughout the seasons.

Volunteers for fundraising events and community initiatives. Suitable for those that can only help out on an 'ad hoc' basis. Various activities throughout the year.

Corporate volunteering. We are always happy to arrange team days for you and your colleagues. It’s a great opportunity for team building and you can support us in a variety of ways. Please give us a call for more details on how to get involved as a company.
