Outreach Services
Our commitment to palliative care goes beyond the walls of our hospice, we also provide outreach support to people in our community because, it’s not just Wakefield Hospice, it’s Wakefield’s Hospice.

Our Outreach Services aim to spread awareness of hospice care and myth bust common misconceptions.

Our Outreach Team works with the local community to offer care and support through a range of drop-in sessions (held on a regular and ad-hoc basis, some accessible by referral whilst others are open to all), whilst also visiting community groups and roadshows to share presentations or host stalls aimed at raising the awareness of hospice care.

We currently run a free-drop in session at Horbury Library (WF4 6HP) on the first Tuesday of every month, 10:00-12:00 – an informal opportunity to meet a member of our team and learn more about our services (no booking required).

Friday Wellbeing Sessions

We also have our weekly Friday Wellbeing Sessions, held at Wakefield Hospice, open to anyone living within the Wakefield District who has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, along with their carer and / or significant other.

The group is facilitated by the team at Wakefield Hospice offering professional peer-to-peer support to help with physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing needs.
