Fancy setting yourself a challenge? Well we might have just the Sportive for you. After 7 years The Dark Peak Sportive returns - this beautifully renowned Yorkshire route pulls together the classic climbs, idyllic scenery and finest areas of Yorkshire cycling.
The Wakefield Hospice Sportive: The Dark Peak is organised by Wakefield Hospice and all proceeds go towards proving professional care to our patients and families who ultimately, need it most! The event is Sponsored by SB Wakefield Citroen and supported by Wakefield Triathlon Club.
The event starts and finishes at Nuffield Health, Calder Island Way, Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF2 7AW. Open to anyone, of any ability and you can ride at your own pace, this is not a race. When you've company, great scenery and quiet roads, it is quite the experience. However, it is the rider’s own responsibility to ensure they are fit to ride and their bike is in good working order. On you arrival back you will be greeted with a smile, finishers T-shirt and a food truck serving a variety of post event snacks.
All routes will be clearly signed and include - support vehicles, feed stations, marshals, medical support and mechanical support. A broom wagon/back marker will be following should anyone feel need to leave the event. If it’s your first time or you are familiar with these events, we can ensure that you will have the required support throughout.
We have three routes for the day:
Standard - 41km/25.5mi - £25.00
Hard - 81.4km/50.5mi - £30.00
