Wakefield Hospice has been a staple of the local community, providing care and support for local patients and their families, since 1990.

We are proud to have been serving our local community for over a third of a century, and we couldn’t have done this without the support of local businesses and individuals who raise the funds to keep our doors open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Pubs and bars have been an integral part of our fundraising over the years, and we are proud to launch our “Cheers to Wakefield Hospice” campaign, aimed at highlighting the incredible support these establishments provide whilst helping you with your fundraising journey in support of Wakefield Hospice.

How it works:

Contact our Community Fundraiser, Alison Wainwright, to declare your interest in supporting our “Cheers to Wakefield Hospice” campaign.

We will arrange a meeting to talk through the variety of ways we can support you with your fundraising efforts, highlighting different opportunities available and the range of marketing collateral we can provide (whilst dropping off your special “Cheers to Wakefield Hospice” collection tub to proudly display!)

You will be kept up to date on all fundraising activities taking place at Wakefield Hospice, highlighting opportunities to get involved, whilst also having 1-2-1 expert fundraising support available to help you with any plans you may have.

1) Host a Collection Box

An easy way to kickstart your fundraising efforts!

Placing a collection box on your bar or counter is one of the easiest ways to raise funds with minimal effort. It’s a simple, low-maintenance option that encourages customers to donate their loose change while they enjoy their visit. Over time, those small contributions can really add up and make a big difference!

2) Sweepstakes and Raffles

Whether “naming the bear” or having a go on the sweepstakes for the football!

Sweepstakes and raffles are classic fundraising favourites. Whether you're raffling off a hamper or prizes donated by local businesses, they’re a great way to get customers involved while raising money for a good cause. Sell tickets over the bar, and build excitement by tying your draw into key moments like a festive Christmas celebration or a lively summer event!

3) Quiz Night

Host a weekly quiz night with all proceeds going to Wakefield Hospice.

Turn your regular quiz night into a fun and meaningful way to support Wakefield Hospice! Host a weekly, fortnightly or monthly quiz and donate proceeds to the hospice. It’s a great way to bring your community together, boost midweek footfall, and raise vital funds – all while giving your customers an entertaining night out.

4) Round up a Round

Ask customers to round up the cost of a pint for a full week.

For one week, invite your customers to round up the cost of a pint (or any drink!) with the extra change going to Wakefield Hospice. It’s a small ask that can make a big impact – just a few pence at a time. Add it to the bill or keep a dedicated collection pot behind the bar.

5) Take your support to new heights!

We have spaces available for those willing to brave a skydive for Wakefield Hospice! Whether you are an adrenaline seeker or simply wanting to try a once in a lifetime experience!
