Covid 19 is still here and is impinging on all our lives, we have to remain vigilant to changes in local and national guidance to keep our patients, visitors, volunteers and staff safe.

From the 19 July 2021 we look forward to continuing to welcome visitors onto the In-patient unit at the hospice. We recognise what a huge benefit this brings to both patients and those who are close to them. In line with Public Health England guidance the requirement to wear PPE and comply with social distancing will remain in place for all visitors and staff.

At Wakefield Hospice we continue to ask visitors to ring prior to visiting to arrange a time. In addition to these measures we are now asking for your location.

On arrival visitors are asked to complete a disclaimer about Covid 19 symptoms, your temperature will be checked and a lateral flow test administered. Wakefield Hospice provide personal protective equipment for all our visitors to be worn during your time at the hospice, along with hand hygiene facilities. Please check with the hospice regarding our policy on visiting by calling on 01924 331400.

While visiting is currently restricted at the hospice you can stay in contact with your loved one by emailing letters to neyh.inpatunit@nhs.net. Please limit your communication to 2 sides of A4 and no more than 3 photographs, also include the patients full name and date of birth in the subject bar. Please include any special requirements such as large print or if the letter will need to be read to the patient.
