We need your help

Our volunteers are vital to making sure we provide the best possible care for our patients.

Volunteers support our staff, enabling them to focus on the tasks they are qualified to do. We know time is precious and our aim is to make our patients’ time as fulfilling as possible.

Volunteers bring their own skills and experience that enrich our services. Some are looking for opportunities to gain new skills, experience for employment or for new social contacts. We have a variety of opportunities to offer.

Whatever part of the hospice family you would like to be part of, we only ask for a commitment to suit us both and the enthusiasm to make a difference. We offer ongoing support and training so our volunteers are fully engaged and feel valued.

Volunteering FAQs

Do I need experience or qualifications?

There are a few specific roles that require previous experience or qualifications but in the main, we will provide ongoing training and support. The most important qualifications are enthusiasm, reliability and being a good match to the task

How do I apply and what happens next?

It couldn’t be easier. Just give us a call, pick up an application form at any of your shops or download one here on our website. When we have heard from your referees, we’ll be in touch to arrange an informal and friendly interview. All being well, you will be on your way to joining a fantastic team of Hospice Volunteers.

What will I get out of volunteering?

Apart from the valuable contribution you make to the running of the Hospice, you will also gain confidence, a sense of achievement and a new network of friends. You may learn new, transferrable skills: volunteering is a great addition to a professional CV. Above all, it’s fun, rewarding and gives a real sense of purpose in your community. Our patients and families often comment on the contribution of volunteers and it feels good to give!
